David Bowie, English singer and songwriter, died on Jan. 10, two days after the release of his album “Blackstar” and his 69th birthday. The only song of his that I can say I know and have not just heard, is the iconic song, “Under Pressure,” a song he sang with Queen in 1981. I cannot say that I knew much about him or his music, but he was in one of my favorite childhood movies, “Labyrinth” (different from Pan’s Labyrinth). It was a weird Jim Henson movie that probably should have scared me, but I fell in love with it because of the Goblin King, played by Bowie. Did I mention is was a bit of a musical? My favorite, “Magic Dance,” is a fun, up-beat song that I knew all the words to when I was younger. If you have not seen Bowie in action, I highly suggest the strange movie. Check out “Under Pressure” and “Magic Dance” above!
