Marco Minervini: a positively impactful student

By Kayla Sweeney

Marco Minervini is a current junior here at Huntley High School. He moved here from East Atlanta the start of junior year. He was born in Chicago and lived there until he was 4, moved to Huntley until he was eight, and finally moved to Atlanta. He moved to Huntley for a better and safer environment.

His passion in life is sports and art. Marco plays soccer and baseball here at HHS. He also is in 2-D design with Mrs. Corapi. He has made self portraits, india ink paintings, and scratch boards. Scratchboard projects are carvings of an object of your choosing into a piece of paper trying to replicate the original photo.

Although, baseball is Marcos’s main passion in life, playing since he was four. Marco’s baseball idol is Javier Baez. Baez’s story inspires him as he overcame adversity in multiple manors.

Marco’s biggest inspiration is his mom. Him and his mom are very close and consider each other best friends. Marco also loves his dog Buster, a support dog and soon to be military dog.

Marco Minervini plans to further his academic and athletic career at a four year university (still undecided). He also plans to go to college for design engineering and architecture.

Marco Minervini works on a very early schedule. He wakes up at 4:30 every morning, to go to practice before the start of his day. He also is the founder of ‘pillow act’. The pillow act is a non profit charity, where Marco gathers donations and he then travels to downtown Chicago and hands out pillows and blankets to the homeless. He plans to go down to the city as often as he can to try and help the less fortunate. He brings his friends and family with him as well. So far, he has raised $291 and his goal is $500. Marco has always wanted to give back to those in need.

“It was not long ago where I felt similar to those in need. During my childhood, my mom and I had to live paycheck-to-paycheck and from house-to-house,”

Marco’s ultimate goal is to find a way to impact the world in a positive way and to bring joy to those who need it most. Marco is enjoying his time here at HHS and is excited for his future plans and adventures.
