In March 1943, during World War II, a young scrawny soldier leaped onto a live grenade to protect his comrades. Fortunately, the grenade does not detonate, but from that moment a hero was born.
Since the initial release of “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the character himself has been established as an icon, with two sequels being released, followed by 17 additional films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring Chris Evans as Captain America. However, with the original character reaching the end of his story and life, he decides to pass down the iconic red, white, and blue shield.
Alongside Chris Evans, his co-star Anthony Mackie portrayed his on-screen sidekick, The Falcon. Captain America, having been very close with The Falcon, believes him to be the best possible candidate to be the symbol. Now, years later, “Captain America: Brave New World” was released, and critics hated it. Many wondered if this new character was worthy of the mantle.
Many viewers have pointed out the utter lack of knowledge to the point of the movie. People argue that the MCU is in dire need of progress after an obvious dip in quality after “Avengers: Endgame.” The comedy was too much and the stories felt flat and meaningless. With the release of this recent film, a wave of worry washed over audiences.
However, the hate was not all correct. All the film needed to do to establish a lovable new Captain America was to make him feel like a man with honor, dignity, and integrity.
Overall, the movie did have obvious dips in quality due to reshoots, but the story and fights were some of the best of Marvel since its prime.
There were only two jokes, which did not take away from the story, the fight choreography was amazing, and the film honored the old “Cap,” leaving the future of the franchise as an afterthought.
Regardless, the reviews will give the studio a much-needed wake-up call. For now, audiences can view the film as a glimmer of hope for a brighter future for the MCU.
