After five years, Lady Gaga has finally released a full new album: “Mayhem.” Following the initial release of her songs “Die with a Smile” featuring Burno Mars, “Disease,” and “Abracadabra,” which quickly gained immense attention and popularity, the album became a very highly anticipated release. Featuring 14 tracks, the 53 minute album “Mayhem” was produced by Gaga with Michael Polansky, Andrew Watt, Gesaffelstein, and Cirkut. It was promised to include a variety of different genres and styles, as each song is a gradient from a heavier to a more lighthearted sound, and some songs featured artists such as Mars and Gesaffelstein. Soon after its release, the album quickly gained millions of streams.
Gaga wanted the album to be a collection which reflected the stream of dissaray in her life, ultimately building a path to a happier place. All in all, she wanted it all to be fun and genre-bending, building the album to be more chaotic and freeform.
So far, “Mayhem” has accomplished everything she intended it to and more. It has been a highly reviewed album, with many predicting that the songs will stir the Billboard charts and reach the number one spot. Getting an early start, “Die with a Smile” earned a nomination for Song of the Year and won Best Pop Duo/Group Preformance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. The hit was also second place on the Billboard Hot 100 and, for eight weeks, held the first place spot on the Billboard Global 200. Additionally, both “Disease” and “Abracadabra” have become top 40 hits. Many of the songs have hit other charts across different countries as well.
Looking forward, she is set to headline at Coachella on April 11 and 18 and will most likely be performing many of her new songs.
“Mayhem” has quickly gained popularity, and this is only the beginning. Lady Gaga’s talent has greatly impacted the music industry and inspired many artists, and fans and critics alike are looking forward to what she has in store next.
