Huntley overcame a sluggish start offensively to topple Fox Valley Conference opponent Prairie Ridge 56-30 on Wednesday night.

The Raiders started off slow, scoring only 11 points in the first quarter and trailing the Wolves. At the end of the quarter, Huntley coach Marty Manning had a fiery talk with the team, trying to make them realize that they needed better ball control.

Senior point guard TJ Adams, out with a finger injury, says Manning was right.

“They came out really sluggish,” said Adams. “I don’t want to sound like I’m talking myself up, but the lack of a true point guard out there really made it hard to slow the offense down and take controlled shots.”

Huntley guard Tommy Regan keyed up the offense with several back-to-back shots, however, and got the offense rolling. With the offense rolling, Huntley went on a run and outscored PR 15-5 in the quarter to take a 27-17 lead at the half.

Coming out from halftime, the Raiders continued their second quarter successes, and never led by less than 9 points. A late offensive burst put the game away, and Huntley ended up with a 56-30 victory.

The Raiders will face McHenry at home on Friday night in a white-out.
