PARENTAL ADVISORY. EXPLICIT CONTENT.

Who would have guessed the former member of The Jonas Brothers, and a former Disney Channel star, would have those four words stamped onto his new, self-titled solo album “Nick Jonas?”

Jonas’ latest solo album cannot even compare to his earlier albums due to its edgy and lustful lyrics.  Jonas’ very first solo album in 2005, before The Jonas Brothers boy band was in the limelight, was a Christian pop album titled “Nicholas Jonas.”  Jonas represented the good boy persona.

In 2010, Jonas released his second solo album with his band named, “Nick Jonas and the Administration.”  The “Who am I” album featured tunes with a pop vibe blended with rock and roll sounds.  Nick was starting to break away from his previous good-boy reputation.

“Chainz” is Jonas’ first single released from the “Nick Jonas” album. “Chainz” is a very dark song with deep meaning about a relationship.  The lyrics and vibe are more grown-up than Jonas’ past music.

Jonas released his second single from “Nick Jonas” on his YouTube Channel called “Jealous.”  This song is about Jonas’ significant other and how he becomes jealous when other guys pay attention to her. This song has a really good beat. The first time an audience listens to the song it might sound a little different, but it grows on its listeners. This is the kind of song that leaves lyrics stuck in the listeners’ heads all day long.

Also, the song “Avalanche” was released in Jonas’ latest album featuring Demi Lovato.  “Avalanche” carries a very soft sound, but the combination of Jonas and Lovato’s voices makes a beautiful melody.

Nick Jonas’ album does not to compare to any of his past albums. Jonas is expanding his genre, and seems to be reaching out to a more mature audience. Jonas’ pop star persona is definitely in his past. Jonas really outdid himself to achieve his goal in breaking away from his Disney, good-boy persona with the making of “Nick Jonas.”
