The Sanderson sisters make a comeback in Disney’s newest sequel, which was released on Disney+ on Sept. 30. This fantasy film brings back a wave of nostalgia, and anyone of any age can enjoy it.

The movie starts with the origin story of the Sanderson sisters. Just like in the original film, Winifred Sanderson is played by Bette Midler, Sarah Sanderson is played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy is played by Mary Sanderson.

330 years later, they are summoned once again to Salem, Massachusetts. This time, teenagers Becca, played by Whitney Peak, Cassie, played by Lilia Buckingham, and Izzy, played by Belissa Escobedo, have to stop the sisters from creating chaos in their town.

There are a couple of downsides to the film. The storyline is a bit basic and predictable, as it follows the same setup as the first film. The newer characters in the movie are pretty uninteresting, and the Sanderson sisters take the spotlight from them.

Also, in the sequel, they tried to make the Sanderson sisters seem less evil than in the first movie. The humor and comedic scenes were mostly directed to their older audience, for example, the scene where the sisters discover an “Amazon Alexa.”

Overall, it could have been a lot funnier and a bit scarier, and they could have made the storyline unique. I think the movie would have been a lot better if they just focused the whole story on the Sanderson sisters’ backstory and what it was like when they were young.

The movie focused on themes of sisterhood and friendship. Midler, Parker, and Najimy did a great job bringing fun into the film. The film did a good job of keeping elements of the original movie while adding modern touches.

You do not have to watch the first movie to watch the sequel, and this would be a fun film to watch with your family or friends. It is light-hearted and fun, and it gets you into the Halloween spirit.

All in all, the movie was pretty entertaining, and even though it was not as impactful as the first film, it managed to bring back a wave of nostalgia. This modernized sequel is definitely worth the watch if you are looking to relax and prepare for Halloween. Whether you are a newcomer or an old fan, anyone from any generation can enjoy watching this film.
