After Huntley High’s huge win against Prairie Ridge at the Homecoming football game, school pride was  at an all-time high, but the school spirit did not stop at the game. Huntley High School’s Homecoming Dance was themed  “Raider Nation- This is Our Year.” The dance floor was decorated in red, black, and white, Huntley High’s school colors.

The need for school unity was a big subject for Student Council. Unlike the common dance themes of the past, this theme was put in place to celebrate school unity and spirit.

“It’s the best theme yet,” said senior Britni Siwuda. “It’s the best way to show school pride and what Homecoming is really about.”

From 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. students celebrated Huntley’s victory over Prairie Ridge, as well as school pride in general.

This year was the first year that no tickets were available at the door, and it was also the first year that a coat check system was available to students.

To end the long week of school spirit, the school crowned seniors Zach Gorney and Courtney Kampert Homecoming king and queen.

“[The theme] was really made to unite the school, and it was a great way to do it,” said senior Ran Xu.

Lack of school spirit was certainly not an issue for Huntley High School students during both the Homecoming game and dance.

Student Council aimed for more students to get involved in school pride, and that is just what they did.
