“Cecilia and the Satellite” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness was written for McMahon’s daughter. Released on their album “Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness” in 2014, he wrote the song to show his daughter all the highs and lows of his life, before she was born. He said in an interview that he wanted her to know that he would be there for her through all those times in her life, when they occurred. McMahon tried to incorporate the feel of living on a tour bus, but to also raise a little girl at the same time. The older girl in the music video, to me, represents how he wants his daughter to live her life and not to be scared to make mistakes, but to travel the world and learn from everything you do. Check out the music video below!
