“Sugar, We’re Goin Down” by Fall Out Boy was released April 12, 2005. This was what you would call the band’s claim to fame. It reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, which was their first top 10 hit. The song is hard to understand and many people don’t realize what the lead singer Patrick Stump says during the chorus. “We’re going down down in an early round/ and sugar we’re goin’ down swingin’/ I’ll be your number one with a bullet/ a loaded God complex/ cock it and pull it.” The lyrics throw a bunch of random words together, and this leaves the Chicago based band to have formed one of their greatest songs. The video, much like the words, feels very random and odd to me, but nonetheless, fun. A boy with antlers is trying to win the girl’s heart, while trying to gain the father’s approval. Check out Fall Out Boy’s hit song below!
