Netflix Original, “The Adam Project,” released on Mar. 11,  is a sci-fi-adventure film about the interesting idea of time travel. It is a feel-good movie that provides valuable lessons that can be applicable to the lives of its audience.

The movie starts off in space with Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reeds, a pilot from 2050, being chased by another enemy jet. During 2050, the world has become a disaster after time travel has been used to change the events of the past. As a result, Reeds wants to go back in time to stop time traveling from ever being created. While attempting to travel back in time, he gets shot, and instead of traveling to his original destination, 2018, he travels to 2022. There he meets his younger, 12-year-old self, who accompanies him as he tries to get back to 2018.

The movie included many well-known actors, such as Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldaña, and Mark Ruffalo. Ryan Reynolds definitely stood out because he brought life to the film with all his jokes and comedic parts. Walker Scobell, who played young-Adam, also played his role very well and he, along with Ryan Reynolds, was a fun duo to see.

The movie started off pretty slow to introduce and build the characters, but built up pretty quickly. It was truly evident that each scene had an importance, and none was too dragged-out or a bore to watch. The writers did a great job at capturing the audience’s attention as it remained interesting from start to finish. The movie also had many references to sci-fi films of the past including, “Star Wars,” “Back to the Future,” and “The Terminator.”

The movie was definitely made to be watched with family. It teaches to truly appreciate the time spent with your family, because in the future, you will regret not taking the moments to be with them. It also teaches about the importance of fathers in the lives of their children, and that they should truly take the time to spend time with their children.

A few downsides of the movie was its plot. It seemed pretty bland and unoriginal, but the cast still made it interesting to watch. Also, the antagonist of the story, played by Catherine Keener, was not a great villain because she didn’t play her role in a menacing way, and as a result, her character didn’t really feel like a villain.

Overall, the movie was pretty decent and entertaining. Ryan Reynolds’ performance truly carried the movie, but the supporting cast also did a great job. Their take on time travel was exciting to see and was done well. It is definitely a movie to watch with family and it truly warms the hearts of its viewers.
