Restaurant Review: Bistro Wasabi

[H]untley’s arsenal of restaurants is limited when it comes to the diversity of their food. With an abundance of pizza places and bars with grilled items, Huntley's edible ammunition is somewhat lacking. But not to fear my hungry Huntley-sapiens. Bistro Wasabi, which lies on the same strip as Dairy Queen on West Algonquin Road, gives your taste buds a sweet and sour escape from your average pizza night-out. Ever since it opened in 2000, Bistro Wasabi has offered customers with cooked and uncooked Japanese delicacies with a little American twist to it. Their menu offers items ranging from New York Steak to a chef’s special Maki Sushi.

[I]t’s not like it’s something we haven’t seen before. Four British lads with shaggy hair and raspy vocals wailing angsty, lovelorn verses over garage rock instrumentals. But how long has it been since we’ve seen it? It seems that the reign of indie rock bands such as The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and The Killers, has long been overthrown by the rise of trap and dubstep music.

[I]t was 8:30 p.m on a monday night, and my parents were running a little late from work. My brother and I were hungry and were willing to eat anything they brought home for us. We were happy and relieved when we saw them come home with takeout boxes. At the time, we did not care where the food was coming from...until we looked inside the boxes. My family is strictly vegetarian so going out to eat could sometimes be a bit challenging for us. We need to make sure to order menu items with no meat, and then double check once we get our meals.

[A] small table with three plates displaying the day’s specialties was the very first thing I noticed when I walked into this newly opened restaurant, located on Route 47. But what really caught my attention was the unique name of these specialties: Crab Bennies, Parfait Crepes, and the Classic Blueberry French Toast.

The fallen leaves crunch beneath her spikes as she pounds on the uneven terrain. The cheers and ringing cowbells from the spectators are drowned out by her heavy breathing and the shouting voices in her head, telling her she’s almost there and helping her to power through the last hill before the finish line.

Yogurtland restaurant review

By Mawa Iqbal
October 15, 2014
It is a Friday night, and a place is buzzing with excitement and energy as students from Jacobs socialize with each other after a home football game. After filling their cups with thick and creamy yogurt, the customers make their way over to the toppings bar where they get to choose from a variety of toppings, ranging from fresh fruit to colorful gummy bears. If you have not guessed by now, the place that I am talking about is Yogurtland that just opened up in Algonquin. Another yogurt place by the Commons? Trust me, this one is different, and possibly better than its froyo competitors.
